Integrated under the water chamber the mattress Aquastar, the Aquaclim system is based on a network of innovative cannulas that ensure continuous water circulation. This constant floweffectively removes heat generated by the animal and maintains the pocket at an ideal temperature, even in extreme weather conditions.

This targeted cooling is particularly beneficial for dry cows and cows ready for insemination, for which thermal comfort is critical to reproductive success. By maintaining these animals in optimal conditions, Aquaclim Up supports fertility. Once the cow is pregnant, Aquaclim promotes proper fetal development, helping ensure the health and performance of the future dairy cow.

The most effective method

Cooling by conduction (through contact) is recognised as the most effective method for cows.

Because heat is dissipated directly through contact, from the most sensitive areas of the cow’s body—its belly, udder, and mammary veins. These areas contain a dense blood network, ideal for transferring heat to a cooler surface. Unlike ventilation, which mainly acts on the surrounding air, conduction cools the circulating blood, close to the cow’s thermal core. The result is immediate relief, even without air movement.

Effectively combating heat stress means acting at the right time, with the right response, while considering all key parameters. Cooling the mattresses continuously, year-round, would not only waste energy but also reduce their effectiveness when it matters most.

This is why Bioret Agri developed a control system specifically designed for Aquaclim Up cooling, working in synergy with our other ventilation and misting solutions.

While traditional control systems rely solely on indoor temperature, Heat Stress Dynamic Control (HSDC) goes further. Using temperature and humidity sensors, it continuously calculates the true heat stress index (THI).

This intelligent control system automatically triggers the most appropriate response—progressive fan speed increase, activation of misting, or conduction cooling via Aquaclim—based on the thresholds defined for your building.

Result: a precise, responsive, and controlled indoor climate that protects cows from heat stress, improves comfort, and sustainably supports performance.

HSDC: Heat Stress Dynamic Control

Heat Stress Dynamic Control (HSDC) is an intelligent control system specifically designed to reduce heat stress in dairy buildings.

It relies on a network of temperature and humidity sensors that continuously monitor ambient conditions to calculate the THI. Using an adaptive algorithm, HSDC automatically adjusts ventilation and cooling to maintain a stable, comfortable indoor climate.

The process is progressive: as temperature rises, the fans start and gradually increase their speed as the THI increases. If this is not sufficient to maintain a cool environment, the system activates misting, combined with the fans to enhance the cooling effect. Finally, once the predefined THI threshold for your building is reached, the Aquaclim mattresses activate conduction cooling directly in contact with the animals.

This intelligent regulation maintains an optimal indoor climate at all times, without wasting energy or creating excess humidity. The result is a reliable, automated, and energy-efficient system that safeguards herd welfare and supports dairy production performance.
