Innov'Space: a label that puts the spotlight on true innovations

Since its creation, the Innov'Space has established itself as a benchmark in the livestock sector. Every year at the SPACE show in Rennes, France, the award recognizes products and equipment that represent a real step forward for livestock farmers.

The selection process relies on an independent jury made up of breeders, veterinarians, researchers and specialist journalists. Their role: to identify solutions that genuinely advance the work of livestock farming, whether in terms of animal comfort, technical performance or sustainability.

For the winners, this recognition means increased visibility during and after the show, but above all enhanced credibility: the assurance that the innovation is deemed useful and relevant by experts in the field.

CalfCare Thermofloor awarded in 2025

Our solution CalfCare Thermofloor, a low-temperature underfloor heating system for newborn calves, convinced the jury. The innovation meets a crucial need: protecting calves in their first hours of life, promoting growth, boosting immunity and improving hut hygiene.

By maintaining a stable surface temperature between 18 and 22°C, CalfCare Thermofloor delivers an estimated average daily gain of between 200 and 350 g/day and contributes to the vitality of future animals in production.

This recognition confirms that our innovation work is useful and concrete for breeders.

A fragile start that both conditions

At birth, calves lose heat very quickly through the floor. Because their thermoregulation is still immature, they must use valuable energy reserves just to maintain body temperature.

The consequences are immediate: weaker immunity, a higher risk of diarrhea, and slower early growth that can be difficult to catch up later.
Studies are clear: a calf that gets a strong start becomes a heifer that will produce more milk and remain productive for longer.

Thermal comfort directly supports increase

Every gram of average daily gain (ADG) matters. Scientific projections suggest that providing a stable, temperate environment could increase performance by 200 to 350 g of additional ADG per day. The result: faster weaning, stronger health foundations, and fewer medical treatments.
It is also an economic issue. Healthier calves mean fewer losses and, ultimately, a more productive herd.

Bringing Bioret Agri’s expertise from cows to calves

For more than 20 years, we have developed solutions to help dairy cows cope with heat stress: Aquastar waterbeds, Aquaclim conductive cooling, and Cyclone 360° ventilation.
Building on this expertise, the company developed CalfCare Thermofloor: a low-temperature hydronic heated floor specifically designed for calf nurseries and calf pens.

How does it work?

The principle is simple and robust: a closed loop of tempered water, embedded in an insulating foam layer, keeps the surface between 18 and 22 °C — the calf’s thermal neutral zone.

Internal trials delivered clear results:

  • temperature increase up to +20 °C within 5 hours
  • thermal stability for 7 hours,
  • an average consumption of 500 Wh, significantly lower than an infrared heat lamp.

In summer, the system can also operate in reverse using cold water to dissipate excess body heat.

Visible benefits in real farm conditions

Beyond comfort, the floor also promotes better bedding drying, helping limit bacterial growth. Early trials on equipped farms confirm improved thermal comfort, stronger calf vitality, and better hygiene in the pens.

Each floor is custom-made, pressure-washable, waterproof, and anti-slip, meeting farmers’ requirements for hygiene and long-term durability.

Investing in the future of the herd

With CalfCare Thermofloor, we continue our mission at Bioret Agri: putting comfort at the service of performance. By protecting calves from their very first breath, the company reminds us that a strong herd begins at birth.

An award-winning innovation

CalfCare Thermofloor has not only convinced farmers: it also impressed the jury of Innov’Space 2025, which awarded it its prestigious label. This distinction, granted by an independent panel of experts (farmers, veterinarians, researchers, journalists, etc.), recognizes innovations that deliver real value on farms.

Dairy Success: a global approach to dairy well-being

From cubicle mattresses to grooved rubber floors and barn fans, Bioret Agri offers a complete range of equipment designed to improve living conditions for dairy cows. Combining these different elements creates the ideal environment for your animals.

More than 25 years of observation, research and experimentation on farms have led the manufacturer to offer a complete building layout solution: Dairy Success. The aim is to place comfort at the heart of the business, to increase the number of lactations per cow.

Well-housed cows express their full potential

To optimize cows' milk productivity, it's essential that they are able to consume a fresh, palatable ration, without being interrupted or disturbed, and in a position that facilitates ingestion. There are three ways to achieve this: with the Feeding Step, Divizen flexible separators (available as part of the Zen'eat range) and the Sani'Feed flexible PVC trough cover.

The animals must then be able to chew their cud in complete peace and quiet. The Aquastar provides all the necessary comfort. Made in France, it is the first combined latex waterbed for cubicles. Firm and non-abrasive, it adapts to each cow's morphology and improves blood circulation. Refreshing, it protects against thermal stress in hot weather. Attached to the front of this mattress, the AquaBoard water kneepad absorbs shocks when lying down and provides comfortable support.

Six solutions tailored to the needs of dairy cows

Magellan floor covering makes moving around safer while keeping paws dry. Thanks to its grooved surface, this rubber mat is both non-slip and draining. It reduces the risk of slips and falls, and evacuates juices quickly to keep hooves healthy.

Equipping your barn properly is essential, but so is ventilating it properly. Optimized air circulation prevents cows from suffering from the heat. While the Aquastar mattress already cools them down, the Cyclone 360 fan is ideal. Its high-flow air also dries the floor, further improving the hygiene of legs and udders in all seasons.

Robust, built to last and guaranteed

All this equipment comes with a warranty. Thanks to the Serenity Pack, the Magellan floor mat, for example, is fully serviced every two years by a specialized technician, and has its warranty extended to 20 years. Manufactured with quality materials, Bioret Agri products are tested and inspected to ensure their long-term performance.

Optimizing food intake: Zen'eat + Sani feed meet the challenge https://agri.bioret-corp.com/en_en/optimizing-feed-intake-with-zeneat-sani-feed-combo/ https://agri.bioret-corp.com/en_en/optimizing-feed-intake-with-zeneat-sani-feed-combo/#respond Fri, 18 Apr 2025 12:11:21 +0000 https://agri.bioret-corp.com/?p=5136 Zen'eat and Sani Feed are two complementary products developed by Bioret Agri to improve feeding conditions for dairy cows. Their installation kills three birds with one stone: optimizing feed intake, reducing competition and maintaining optimum hygiene, for the benefit of milk production and animal welfare.

Undisturbed feeding at the trough is essential for dairy herds.Good feed intake is a prerequisite for production, and the Zen'eat offers an appropriate solution. Simple yet highly effective, this system improves feed intake in a number of ways.

What's the concept? The Zen'eat is a raised, slightly inclined separation of the feed zone, coupled with flexible separators. The gaiter is installed along the fence. Short, flexible plastic bars are fixed at the foot of the headlocks. Positioned every two cows, these dividers (called Divi'zen) attenuate the dominant-dominated relationship, thus avoiding conflicts during meals. The device also enables the cow to be straightened for optimal feed intake.

Zen'eat for a relaxing meal

By eliminating the sources of stress associated with food competition, Zen'eat enables cows to eat in peace and get more out of their ration. Thanks to a dedicated, undisturbed space (the dividers also prevent cows from running onto the step or lying across it), feed intake is carried out with complete peace of mind. There are no more interruptions, which at the same time encourages complete intake of the ration.

The smaller space allocated to each pair of cows and the incline of the walk also help to straighten the animals. They are then positioned in the ideal axis when feeding. Separating the scraping area from the feeding area also means that cows are not inconvenienced by the scraper, while the manure does not soil the step, the length of which has been calculated accordingly.

The rubber coating also makes it easy to maintain, in exactly the same way as a row of cubicles. The non-slip surface also reduces the risk of slipping. A comfortable feeding area designed to help cows feel more at ease, eat more... and the breeder to improve his herd's performance.

Sani'feed, a PVC trough cover

The ideal complement to Zen'eat on the other side of the feed fence, Sani feed is a PVC trough cover that guarantees optimum hygiene. Its smooth surface prevents the proliferation of bacteria and facilitates cleaning. It also improves feed intake, as a clean, fresh ration is always more palatable. The results are quickly visible in all equipped barns: cows are calmer, healthier, ruminate more... and above all, more milk in the tank. Another advantage is that the delimitation of spaces guarantees a perfect level of safety when blocking animals in the event of an intervention (insemination, care...). Last but not least, Sani'feed is easy to install and very affordable.

Winner of an Innov'Space award in 2024, the Serenity Pack, combined with the Magellan 25 belt, includes a twice-yearly maintenance contract and extends the warranty to 20 years. The maintenance service includes complete belt cleaning, scraper recalibration and belt replacement.

Floor coverings in dairy barns are put to the test. The Magellan 25 mat developed by Bioret Agri stands out for its robustness. The lifespan of Magellan 25, made from grooved natural rubber that is both draining and slip-resistant, is estimated at 30 years! A 15-year warranty (5 years at 100 % + 10 years degressive) applies to all Magellan 25 mat purchases.

With the Pack Sérénité, the warranty can be extended to 20 years (10 years at 100 % + 10 years degressive). Winner of an Innov'Space award in 2024, this package includes a maintenance contract valid for ten years. A first in the dairy farming sector, this turnkey service relieves farmers of upkeep and maintenance constraints, and extends the life of their conveyor belts, for a safe and healthy building.

Magellan 25: a mat designed for cow comfort and health

Designed to optimize cow comfort in traffic areas, around the milking robot or in the milking parlour, Bioret Agri's Magellan mat provides maximum cushioning, drainage and grip. Its grooved texture promotes rapid drainage of juices, reducing the risk of bacterial proliferation and thus the appearance of leg problems such as dermatitis. Specially adapted to hooves, it also ensures unrivalled grip. No more slips or falls.

Of course, such equipment needs to be maintained. If you opt for the Serenity Pack, every two years a Bioret Agri technician will come to your premises to carry out a thorough cleaning of the carpet, using the «Motoclean», a machine equipped with combs designed to dislodge stones and other foreign bodies. This thorough cleaning restores the carpet's «grip», ensuring that it remains slip-resistant and safe. Scraping belts and brushes are also replaced, and the scraper cleaned and recalibrated to maintain optimum efficiency.

A service for cows and those who raise them

By integrating the first maintenance service of its kind into its Magellan 25 product, Bioret Agri is breaking new ground. The Serenity Pack enables farmers to kill three birds with one stone: secure their investment over the long term, save time and preserve the sanitary quality of their barns. With over ten years' experience in the installation of floor coverings on dairy farms, Bioret Agri continues to do more for the comfort of cows... and farmers.

L’article Aquastar : « Il n’y a plus de vaches couchées dans le couloir, même quand il fait chaud » est apparu en premier sur BIORET AGRI.

]]>
The quality of a cow's lying surface is crucial to her well-being and milk production. When a cow is lying down, mammary blood flow increases by 25 to 50 %. To give your cows the best possible chance of producing, you need to provide them with a sufficient number of comfortable, hygienic lying places, adapted to the largest cows in the herd, whatever their preferred lying position.

With this in mind, Bioret, a specialist in livestock equipment, has developed the Aquastar mattress to enhance a cubicle. A 70 mm water pocket rests on a 35 mm-thick latex underlay, so that every cow can find her sleeping position, whatever her morphology, while benefiting from even pressure over her entire body.

This improves the cow's blood circulation, which in turn boosts milk production. Independent studies have shown that, compared with conventional bedding, Aquastar mattresses enable cows to lie down for longer cycles, increasing milk production by 1 to 3.5 liters per day.

For added comfort, the peach-skin finish of the mattress surface protects cattle's feet from abrasion, reducing friction.

The cooling solution for hot weather

As the water pocket creates a slope towards the rear, the natural flow of liquids is encouraged. The mattress surface is easy to clean, and a daily addition of 300 g of chopped straw is all that's needed to keep the cubicle clean.

Cows are housed in a healthy environment, avoiding injuries and heatstroke. In fact, the water pocket also ensures heat exchange, reducing heat stress for the animals in the summer months. « No more cows lying in the alley, even in hot weather »confirms David Forget, a breeder in Loire-Atlantique, whose cubicle barn has been equipped with Aquastar mattresses for several years.

It was this objective, to provide the cows in his herd with the best possible sleeping comfort, that prompted Hugo Lucas, a breeder in the Côtes d'Armor region, to install Aquastar water mattresses in the cubicles when building a new stall in 2020. « Cows seem to like it »As proof, he points to the absence of bedsores since the cubicles were fitted with Aquastar mattresses.

« If you invest in their well-being and comfort, the cows return the favor," emphasizes Hugo Lucas. Without changing their diet, we've gained 2 to 3 kilos of milk per cow by putting them in good conditions in our new building. »Healthy, productive cows are proof that the farmer has made the right choice in terms of bedding, focusing on their comfort.

For it to go as smoothly as possible, the cow must be provided with comfort and impeccable hygiene. With the Artémis stall, you offer the best conditions for calving your animals.

When it comes to calving or nursing, your cows need maximum comfort and a safe environment. Thanks to Artémis lining, your calving and nursing stalls provide optimal conditions. Their dimensions can be adapted to any stall size.

Highly resistant and easy to clean box Artémis is composed of Magellan 16 and a high-density latex underlay wrapped in a PVC film. This combination provides both a soft floor and good, earth-like grip, making it easier for even the most fragile cows to move around, and preventing them from falling.

With this in mind, Simon Clouet, a breeder in Loire-Atlantique, decided to invest in an Artémis stall.

« I have two calving stalls in my barn," explains the breeder. The first is on concrete and accessible by tractor, if I need to raise a cow, for example. I also use it to sort animals. But with a straw-covered concrete floor, there's more risk of slipping. So I decided to equip the second stall with Artémis. It is used for the most fragile cows, in case of difficult calving, or for those who, sick or injured, need the best conditions to recover.. »

The 20 m3 cubicle also serves as an infirmary. « It's rarely occupied," admits the breeder, "and fortunately so. But I wanted to invest in it to give these cows the best possible chance. On the soft carpet, the hooves sink in well. It helps the cows stand up. »

The comfort and grip solution for calving cows

The mat prevents slipping and provides stability for animals moving on it. An undeniable asset for the safety of cows and workers alike.

Another advantage of the Artémis box is that it maintains optimal hygiene conditions. The grooves allow liquids to run off easily, and the rubber is easy to clean.

« Thanks to the mats, the stall is easier to clean than my other straw-on-concrete stall," says Simon Clouet. Sanitary conditions are better for the animals. » P

or the breeder, providing comfort for his cows is essential if the herd is to fully express its production potential.

« Comfort is all the more important at times of fragility, such as calving or health problems. But it's just as important when it comes to bedding. »He has fitted his cubicles with Aquastar water mattresses. When cows are well bedded and well cared for, they are better able to produce.

Cleaning becomes more difficult, and cleanliness is no longer guaranteed. The feed trough itself can become a source of microbial contamination of the feed. By covering the damaged concrete, Sani-feed matting ensures that the cows' rations are fed in the most hygienic conditions, while facilitating maintenance.

« We are very demanding when it comes to the bacteriological quality of our milk," explains Edouard Rémillet, one of the three partners in the Gaec des Baraques in Genevrières (52). Of the 1.2 million liters produced by our cows, we process 1 million into AOP Langres, a raw-milk cheese. »

To ensure impeccable milk, the farmer pays particular attention to the hygiene of the animals' bedding and the quality of their feed. To preserve feed quality at feeding time, the feed trough must be clean. In this respect, concrete troughs with damaged floor surfaces can become veritable breeding grounds for microbes.

« Our building is 10 years old. Over time, the acidity of the silage has eaten away at the concrete troughs. Damaged, they've become impossible to clean properly. »says the breeder.

Once the decision has been taken to renovate the feeders, the next step is to choose the system. « It's not easy to renovate a trough in a working building," warns Edouard Rémillet. Concrete needs to dry for 3 weeks before use. Resins also need a long drying time. »

How to continue feeding in the meantime? To be able to feed their 120 cows again in hygienic conditions, the breeders opted for a Sani-feed belt. « It was while talking to Bioret's sales representative that we discovered this matting system that covers the trough. The 3.5 mm thick PVC product meets our sanitary requirements and installation constraints. »

Hygiene, practicality and durability

At the end of March 2021, the Sani-feed carpet was installed on the 72-meter trough. « The fitters arrived at 8 am. By 2 p.m., the feeding robot could already enter the corridor to distribute the rations. Assembly time perfectly compatible with a building in operation »notes the breeder.

The system for distributing feed to the cows was another constraint to be taken into account when considering the renovation of the cow troughs at Gaec des Baraques. Here, a robot distributes and pushes the ration.

« He passes twenty times a day in the corridor. »So you need a material that's sufficiently strong and well anchored so as not to be damaged or displaced by these comings and goings. « That's the case. Nothing has moved," says Edouard Rémillet. The Sani-feed mat is flush with the floor. There are no edges or unevenness to interfere with distribution, nor any risk of food passing underneath. »Stretched and secured by skirting boards at each end, the carpet rises to the level of the feed fence.

The PVC material preserves the palatability of the ration for the cows and facilitates the robot's regrowth work. Smooth, it's also easy to clean. Easy maintenance guarantees constant cleanliness of the Sani-feed mat and prevents the appearance of microbial colonies, as can occur in the crevices of degraded concrete. « This is reassuring for the bacteriological quality of our milk. »appreciates the breeder.

To help livestock cope with the summer heat, installing a fan is one of the solutions for limiting rising temperatures in the barn. Visit Cyclone 360 fan and its pulsating air flow stirs up layers of air and cools stalls.

Cattle, especially dairy cows in full production, are highly sensitive to heat. As soon as temperatures reach 25°C, the animals find themselves in a stressful situation. The consequences of heat stress are well known. It has a proven impact on their diet, health and milk production. At a time when hot summers are becoming the norm, breeders are thinking about the well-being of their cattle by preventing this risk. Once certain basics such as unlimited water supply and efficient natural ventilation have been ensured, the addition of fans in the stalls helps the herd to combat heatstroke by lowering the temperature.

The Cyclone fan sends out a 360° flow of pulsating air. The air from above arrives at high speed, from 0.5 to 1.5 m/s, on the animals« backs. It breaks the insulating layer of air on the cow's upper body, reactivating heat exchange through the skin and giving the animal a feeling of freshness. Air circulates down to the ground, reducing humidity in the bedding. As the flows are evenly distributed throughout the space, the benefits of the Cyclone 360 are felt across the entire surface of the barn, with no dead zones. All cows enjoy the benefits in a calm environment, with no competition between dominant and dominated cows for the »right place".

The Cyclone 360 fan is suspended from the building structure. It's economical. Its brushless motor consumes 32 % less electricity than standard fans.

Increase summer comfort

All advantages confirmed by Cyclone 360 fan users. David Forget, a livestock farmer in the Loire-Atlantique region of France, has installed a Cyclone fan alongside his milking robots, to complement the paddle-type products that have equipped part of his barn for several years now. «It's above the cows waiting to access the robot,» explains the breeder. The air flow is constant, with no gusts of wind. It's a real plus in summer. It avoids a feeling of heaviness where the animals gather. The air flow helps lower the temperature by a few degrees. The cows feel better and don't pant. As my barn is fairly enclosed, fans are essential, and the Cyclone is a real plus in terms of herd comfort.» Installing these solutions in the dairy cows' environment helps them to cope with heat peaks and maintain optimum milk production.

With 16 mm thick rubber, the Delta Diam 16 non-slip mat brings comfort and flexibility to barn floors. The movement of animals in the barn is made safer and their behavior freer. Diamond-shaped relief elements provide a highly adherent surface.

A slope guides the run-off of juices towards the central rail, for good evacuation of dejecta and easier scraping. As well as helping to maintain the barn, the cattle's feet are less in contact with moisture, and therefore less prone to foot pathologies, which can lead to lameness. Ammonia emissions are also reduced, in line with sustainable farming practices.

The anti-slip solution

Delta Diam 16 comes in rolls to suit all types of stall. It can be laid in traffic aisles, exercise areas and milking parlors, on concrete or slatted floors.

In his building, only 8 years old, Laurent Burot, a livestock breeder in Loire-Atlantique, noticed that, despite the grooving, the concrete was becoming slippery.

« We lost 3 cows, in one year, split up," laments the breeder. We couldn't go on like that. So we modified the flooring by installing carpets in both alleys. »Since then, there have been no losses. « No more slipping. You can even see cows running! And they express their heat better," says Laurent Burot. The mat doesn't get in the way of the scraper. Thanks to the little brushes we added underneath, it's clean even in the grooves, with no film effect.. »

The choice of a non-slip surface not only ensures safe cow traffic, but also facilitates the farmer's work.

Ensuring flexibility, hygiene and safety

It was the same problem of slippery floors that led Samuel Gicquel, a livestock farmer in Mayenne, to add carpets.

« My building went up in March 2016. I thought I'd wait a while before putting in carpets. But from the very first year, there were a lot of big slips, with half the cows irrecoverable. We were losing time and animals. We needed non-slip rubber mats. »

In terms of choice, the Magellan system will be installed on the feeding area floors to ensure safe cattle movement. Delta Diam is preferred for the robot and cubicle floors.

« Since installing the mats, I haven't lost any cows to slipping," says the farmer. The animals are also cleaner because the mat drains well. It helps at the cellular level and against dermatitis. »

These new coatings improve farm hygiene, and even contribute to milk quality and cow health by reducing the risk of lameness.
