Delta Diam 16: « It's no longer slippery. We even see cows running! »

In a barn, concrete floors are both abrasive to the feet of dairy cows and slippery. Thanks to their patterns, Delta Diam 16 rubber mats secure the movement of animals. The system also facilitates the evacuation of excrement, thus the maintenance of the building, while ensuring good hygiene conditions for the farm.

With 16 mm of rubber thickness, the Delta Diam 16 non-slip mat provides comfort and flexibility to the floors of livestock buildings. The movement of animals in the barn is secured and the expression of their behaviors is freer. Diamond-shaped relief elements provide high grip on its surface.

A slope guides the flow of liquids towards the central rail, for good evacuation of excrement and to facilitate scraping. In addition to helping with barn maintenance, the cattle's feet are thus less in contact with humidity and therefore less prone to foot pathologies, which cause lameness. Ammonia emissions are also reduced, in accordance with a sustainable farming practice.

The anti-slip solution

To adapt to all types of barns, the Delta Diam 16 mat is available in rolls. It can be installed in alleyways, exercise areas and milking parlors, on concrete or slatted floors.

In his building, although only 8 years old, Laurent Burot, a farmer in Loire-Atlantique, noticed that, despite the grooving, the concrete was becoming slippery.

« We lost 3 cows in one year, dislocated, laments the farmer. It couldn't go on like this. So we modified the coating by installing mats in both corridors. » Since then, no losses have been reported. « It no longer slips. We even see cows running! And they express their heats better, appreciates Laurent Burot. The mat does not interfere with the operation of the scraper. Thanks to the small brushes that have been added underneath, it is very clean even in the grooves, without a film effect. »

The choice of a non-slip coating has thus secured the movement of cows but also facilitated the work of the farmer.

Ensure flexibility, hygiene and safety

It is the same problem of slippery floors that led Samuel Gicquel, a farmer in Mayenne, to add mats.

« My building was commissioned in March 2016. I thought I would wait a bit before installing mats. But, in the first year, there were many major slips, with half the cows beyond recovery. We were losing time and animals. Non-slip rubber mats were necessary. »

In terms of choice, the Magellan system will be installed on the floors of the feeding area to secure the movement of cattle. For the floors of the robot and stalls, the Delta Diam is preferred.

« Since the installation of the mats, I have not lost any more cows due to slipping, » the farmer notes. « The animals are also cleaner because the mat drains well. It helps at the cellular level and against dermatitis. »

These new coverings improve the hygiene of the farm, and even contribute to the quality of the milk, as well as the good health of the cows by limiting the risk of lameness.
